Beautiful Quote from Baha’u’llah

Be generous in prosperity, and thankful in adversity.

Be worthy of the trust of thy neighbor, and look upon him with a bright and friendly face.

Be a treasure to the poor, an admonisher to the rich, an answerer to the cry of the needy, a preserver of the sanctity of thy pledge.

Be fair in thy judgment, and guarded in thy speech.

Be unjust to no man, and show all meekness to all men.

Be as a lamp unto them that walk in darkness, a joy to the sorrowful, a sea for the thirsty, a haven for the distressed, an upholder and defender of the victim of oppression.

Let integrity and uprightness distinguish all thine acts.

What does generosity mean to you?

Thames Valley Bahá’ís will be looking at generosity from a multi-Faith angle when they meet at their ‘Time to Unwind’ prayer and meditation devotional evening on Wednesday 24 August (Wednesday in Newbury).

They will be exploring famous quotations from a number of Faiths, including:

  • “Be generous in your days of plenty, and be patient in the hour of loss.  Adversity is followed by success and rejoicings follow woe.” – The Bahá’í Faith, Tablets of Bahá’u’lláh.
  • “Give, and it will be given to you… For the measure you give will be the measure you get back.” -Christianity, Luke 6.38.

Faiths such as Hinduism, Buddhism and Islam will also be looked at.
