UK singer-songwriter Danny Djalili has released a new seven-track album titled Sangfroid. Drawing inspiration from the Baha’i teachings and his love of vintage jazz-influenced music, Djalili has created a collection of songs that aims to bring listeners a sense of peace, hope, and resilience.

The album’s title, Sangfroid, refers to calmness and composure under pressure, an idea that sits at the heart of the project. In a world often characterised by constant noise, rapid technological change, and social media distractions, Djalili hopes the album will offer moments of tranquillity and reflection. While many of the songs are gentle and contemplative, he notes that listeners may also find themselves tapping their feet, clicking their fingers, or even dancing along to its warm melodies.

Four of the album’s seven tracks incorporate passages from the Baha’i Writings, reflecting Djalili’s desire to create music that uplifts and inspires. The album also includes “Light of All Life,” a song based on a prison poem by Mahvash Sabet. The track was co-written with artist Payam Beintart, who also created the album’s cover artwork.

Throughout the creative process, Djalili learned the value of patience, collaboration, and trusting his artistic instincts. Ultimately, he hopes Sangfroid will remind listeners of their inner strength and capacity for perseverance, joy, and compassion, regardless of the challenges they may face.

Open Wide the Doors is a memoir of extraordinary spiritual endurance by Mahvash Sabet, a devoted follower of the Bahá’í Faith who has endured long years of imprisonment in Iran because of her beliefs.

The book emerges from the refinement of more than 600 pages of deeply personal prison writings, originally composed in Persian and later translated into English with great care by Azita Mottahedeh and Bahiyyih Nakhjavani, and shaped into its final form through thoughtful collaboration.
