One step from love . . .

It’s often said that love makes the world go round. Often it is at key points in one’s life that we think a little more deeply about what love means to us.

West Berkshire Bahá’í Shawn Khorassani said that ‘love’ is a subject which never fails to grab people’s attention when it is discussed at one of the Thames Valley Bahá’í Community’s regular Bahá’í meeetings on Tuesday evenings in Newbury. He said: “Love is something which everyone has some understanding of, but not everybody has experienced it in a spiritual way. It’s something that always generates a strong interest when we choose subjects for our Tuesday evening meetings.”

Bahá’ís are taught, in The Hidden Words of Bahá’u’lláh: “Thou art but one step away from the glorious heights above and from the celestrial tree of love.”

If you want to find out more about the Bahá’í faith, why not take part in a Tuesday evening meeting in Newbury. Shawn said: “We are always pleased to have new people come along to our meetings. We like to have lively and interesting discussions.”

Exploring race unity

‘Race Unity’ – what does it mean to you? Following on from Race Unity Day in June, we thought it would be a good idea to explore this subject a little more.

West Berkshire Baha’i Myra ErbenovaWest Berkshire Baha’i Myra Erbenova said: “Bahá’u’lláh brought new spiritual and social teachings for our time – his essential message is of unity. He taught the oneness of God, the oneness of the human family, and the oneness of religion. Bahá’u’lláh challenges us to think about why we were all created from the same substance. “

In ‘The Hidden Words of Bahá’u’lláh’, we learn that ‘…..it is incumbent on you to be even as one soul, to walk with the same feet, eat with the same mouth and dwell in the same land, that from your inmost being, by your deeds and actions, the signs of oneness and the essence of detachment may be made manifest.’
